Ainsdale

Ainsdale Village over crossing

Since I moved to the North West in 1995 I have lived in Ainsdale, part of Southport, Merseyside. It is situated on the coast around 15 miles north of Liverpool. The area is famous for its beach (where Red Rum trained, early land speed records were set and one of the few beaches in the North West in recent times to win awards for its upkeep) and its sand-dunes (home of the rare Natterjack Toad).

A brief history of Ainsdale can be found on the pages of St. John's Church, Ainsdale

The Sefton Coastal Partnership have a very good Coastal Heritage website at http://www.seftoncoast.org.uk/history.html

Click here for some picures of modern Ainsdale and more historical information about parts of our village.
